Inaugurating the Science and Sun Garden in Netivot!

☀️🪐

Last week, we celebrated the inauguration of the Science and Sun Garden, established in collaboration with the Netivot Municipality around the Helmsley Science Education Campus of the Schwartz/Reisman Science Education Center in the Western Negev.

Spanning about 11 dunams (roughly 2.7 acres), the garden connects the train station to the campus and features, among other things, the Solar System Trail, which invites visitors on a journey among the planets to get to know our solar system up close.

During the event, children from the Netivim LaMada (“Pathways to Science”) preparatory program were stationed along the trail and explained the solar system to visitors.

One of the highlights of the evening was the telescope station, where visitors observed the Moon and even Saturn – at least until the clouds decided to join the celebration and hid it! 🪐

The Science and Sun Garden is designed to extend the learning experience beyond classrooms and labs, making science part of the public space – accessible and inviting for students, residents, and visitors alike.

Thank you to the Netivot Municipality and to all the partners who took part in building the garden and making the event a success!
