This year, we had the privilege of hosting the Safe Tournament at the Schwartz/Reisman Center for Science Education – Arnon Campus in Rehovot, in a special event that revives a tradition of challenge, creativity, and thinking outside the box.
Following the announcement that the tournament would no longer continue in its previous format, we decided not to give up on such a meaningful scientific event for youth and chose to carry the tradition forward. This year, Arnon Campus opened its doors and hosted the tournament.
The tournament was led and managed by Alon Shaham from the Arnon Campus teaching team, together with additional staff members who helped turn the event into reality.
Behind the tournament days themselves stood months of hard work, planning, programming, building, and creative thinking. Throughout an entire academic year, teams of students worked on developing their safes, leading up to the exciting moment when they could finally present them at the tournament.
This year, 40 teams took part in the competition, presenting around 40 original and highly sophisticated safes. Among them, 17 safes were designed and built by students from Schwartz/Reisman Centers across Israel, from north to south.
The teams designed and built their safes in the Gelfand Fab Labs, located across the different campuses, with close guidance and support from the Fab Lab instructors and operators.
Participants arrived from across Israel and around the world, and the event included two tournaments: a national tournament and an international tournament.
Throughout the event, the campus was filled with a spirit of curiosity, teamwork, perseverance, and problem-solving – values that we believe in and foster among our students every day.
We are proud to play a role in continuing this tradition and to host such a special community of participants. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible.
See you next year!!
