At the end of September, 12th-grade students from the Schwartz/Reisman Center in Jerusalem embarked on a nighttime scientific adventure at the Ramon Crater. During the trip, the students participated in a stargazing session using advanced telescopes and enjoyed a professional guided tour exploring various celestial bodies.
As preparation for the observation, the students attended a lecture by Dr. Orly Ganot from the Hebrew University on astrophysics and the latest scientific research in the field. Additionally, they participated in a dark photography workshop, gaining hands-on experience photographing celestial bodies using telescopes and their smartphones.
During the trip, the students also visited the Ramon Crater Visitors Center, where they learned about the life story of Ilan Ramon, Israel’s first astronaut.
The excursion provided the students with an experiential way to learn about the universe and its fascinating astronomical phenomena, offering an opportunity to broaden their horizons and deepen their scientific curiosity.
